‘DON’T forget about athletics,’ says GIAAC president Alun Williams.
Although highly supportive of the need to accommodate Guernsey FC at Foote’s Lane from August, he said it was imperative that the long-standing position of track and field at the centre was not undermined.
‘We wish the Green Lions every success at Foote’s Lane and hope that they find that the venue can produce as many magic moments for them as it has for athletics.
‘But following the announcement about the use of Foote’s Lane as the new home of the Guernsey Lions the local athletics club wish to remind everyone that Foote’s Lane has been the home of athletics since 1972 when the all-weather track at the Osmond Priaulx Memorial Field was first laid.’
