Skatepark campaigners hopeful for final boost

Mike O'HaraPREPARATIONS to build a new permanent skatepark in the island could start as early as May, the Guernsey Xtreme Sports Association has said.

Association chairman Mike O’Hara (pictured) said when they secure £150,000 in commitments they should be able to start to plan to  build the skatepark at Beau Sejour.

And he is hoping to secure more funding within the next couple of weeks, which will help boost their current total of £100,000.

‘We have had quite a lot of interest and semi-commitment and we are hopeful that next week we will have more commitment,’ said Deputy O’Hara.
