IT PROVED to be a bittersweet day for Guernsey at a buzzing Foote’s Lane on Saturday.
Close to 1,000 islanders turned out to see the green-and-whites crowned London Two South-West champions, but they lost 16-15 on the day to an impressive Trojans outfit.
The bonus point Guernsey earned in defeat meant that they finished one point ahead of their opponents in the table, but the result took the gloss off an outstanding achievement.
‘Mixed emotions, for sure,’ said Guernsey captain Blair Campbell afterwards.
