Unexpected dinner by candlelight as the power fails
Monday 11th April 2011, 2:29PM BST.
A POWER cut on Friday night was a romantic inconvenience for some diners.
Homes and businesses in a large area of the south and west of the island were in the dark following a transformer fault at the King’s Mills substation.
The lights went out at 9.28pm, with engineers working to restore electricity to all homes and businesses by just after 11pm.
Renar Virbulis, bar manager at La Grande Mare Hotel, said diners were unperturbed by the sudden return to candle light.
‘They said it was quite romantic.’

Is this a stunt to justify why they need to hike up our bills by 6% to keep the power running? Or just proof that we’re paying too much for a poor service?

Get a grip. The time there was a power cut before that was when exactly?
Some like to moan for the sake of it. It’s not an attractive quality.
The service is exceptional value for money.
It’s as good as any reasonable person could reasonably expect.
I doubt there are many comparable places where they have such an exceptional performance record.
I believe the majority of islanders would agree.
You’d be driven insane living on Sark.

Your correct that it wont matter Paul but obviously there will be some people staying,thats life,could be a handy central dropping off point for illegal immigrants coming to all the eu countries.
