PUBWATCH is set to relaunch in time for Easter after almost a year’s suspension to tackle data protection issues.

The aim of the body is to help to reduce alcohol-related crime by issuing bans from participating premises to disruptive, aggressive or antisocial drinkers.

Chairman Tony Le Marchant was delighted it was up and running again.

‘The scheme has been worked on by the Home Department and other agencies for almost a year,’ he said.

I work very closely with this scheme on the mainland as I am the director for a security company with over 3000 employees and nearly 2000 pub and clubs under my security managment and we find it to be a great scheme and as I live in guernsey I find it a relief that I can now drink in the local bars and clubs with the knoladge that certain people will be kept out of the area. 5 stars for Guernsey getting it back up and running

Lets hope this scheme is run better than the last one which breached the law – given that it’s the same individuals involved I won’t hold my breath!!
