Anger over ‘eyesore’ bales
Thursday 14th April 2011, 2:29PM BST.

Island Waste neighbours Sheelagh and Brian Niles say this ‘acoustic fence’ around the site is an eyesore and after nine months should be subject to the same planning criteria as any other permanent structure. (Picture by Peter Frankland, 1123174)
POINTES Lane residents are unhappy about a rotting wooden barrier around the Island Waste depot boundary.
Neighbours of the waste sorting site believe the stacks of baled wood, which have been secured with wire to a steel fence, have been put there to block out noise from the facility.
They say the barrier is unattractive and ruins the character of the area.
Sheelagh and Brian Niles have lived at Pointes Lane for almost four years. They said they did not understand how Island Waste could be allowed to stack up the bales of scrap wood while other islanders, such as Little Cottage Day Care owner Kristina Le Page, were being forced to take down attractive fences.

The report above states that Mr & Mrs Niles have lived at Pointes Lane for almost four years; I’m afraid to say that if one chooses to buy a house near a facility such as Island Waste, which has been on this site for more than four years then one has to accept the fact that it won’t be pretty from time to time, they should be thankful Island Waste are at least trying to shield their near neighbours from the horrors within the site.

SS, you’d like that in your back garden then?

DA666 makes a valid point.
Whilst you can never say things wont change, you can sure go by what is already there before making a decision to buy.
I have seen worse and on the up side these logs will also be providing a fab habitat for wildlife.

Ray – it is les bibeed in Guernsey french actually – but well said!
Too much of this nimby stuff of late. We live in
a very small island, things are bound to be close to each other, we have to get on with it.
Choose your dwelling place with care.
I have a cottage in the heart of town. So I knew when I moved that parking, weekend noise, take away litter, no views, probs etcv were ongoing. But I don`t moan, I just get on with life!

Slep – what’s wrong with woodlice? They help clear up fallen leaves and dead wood so they’re very useful in the environment. Not all humans can say that about themselves!

You have to laugh.
Complaining has just got the worst possible hedge planted in front of these bales. Conifers!!!
So let us give it two years then there will be complaints of loss of light and view.
Do people not know how offensive these trees can be??
