TWO Guernsey advocates have been recognised in the Best of the Best Expert  Guide for 2011.

Mourant Ozannes partner Gavin Farrell and Carey Olsen partner Graham Hall  are both named among the world’s best 25 funds lawyers.

They are two of only five lawyers from the Channel Islands mentioned in the  Legal Media Group publication, which is based on research across 90  jurisdictions involving a range of senior in-house counsel, partners at  pre-eminent law firms and other legal specialists.

Described by Chambers UK as ‘charismatic and creative, with wonderful  attention to detail’, Advocate Farrell is also an executive member of the  Guernsey Investment Fund Association, a member of the Guernsey Bar Council  and a member of the Finance Sector Group.

‘I am pleased to be listed in this guide, which recognises the importance of  Guernsey as a well established and favoured location for international  investment funds,’ said Advocate Farrell.

He added that the listing was a credit to the strength in-depth and industry  knowledge of the whole funds team at Mourant Ozannes in the Channel Islands,  especially with Jersey colleague Jacqueline Richomme, also listed in the  guide among the world’s best 25 funds lawyers.

Advocate Hall, who heads Carey Olsen’s corporate team in Guernsey, has more  than 20 years’ experience in investment funds, corporate transactions and  banking law.

He has advised the States of Guernsey and contributed to much of Guernsey’s  company, tax and investment funds legislation.

He was one of two lawyers at Carey Olsen in the Channel Islands recognised  in the guide with Jersey managing partner Alex Ohlsson named as one of the  world’s top structured finance and securitisation lawyers.
