GUERNSEY led from beginning to end as their dominance of the women’s inter-insular continues.
There are encouraging signs of a greater challenge coming from the Jersey ranks, but even without a couple of key players – Amy Wright and Kerri Brown – the hosts had plenty in the locker to ensure another victory over their old rivals at Beau Sejour on Saturday.
A six-point lead had been established in the opening quarter and the hosts’ defence kept Jersey at bay for the majority of the second, with MVP Katie Cochrane epitomising the tenacity of the Greens when they did not have the ball.
When they did have it, they produced some entertaining basketball in the first half, which they ended 34-15 ahead with Rochelle Vaudin and captain Jenny Rees among the leading scorers.
