GUERNSEY snooker and billiards endured a disappointing weekend with two narrow defeats at the Gremlin Club on Saturday.
In the afternoon session, Gremlin Galacticos’ bid for a second Snooker Upton title fell to a Jersey Mechanics side who were selected in the absence of top flight team league snooker.
Skipper Adam Shorto provided a fine early boost for the Premier Division champions, making breaks of 34 and 63 to beat Guy Heys 3-0.
But with Darren Hughes struggling to settle down until his third frame against Dave Brabiner, the Galacticos led only 4-2 at halfway with Jersey’s two island finalists to come.
