James’ flat feeling

James McLaughlin, pictured competing in Mallorca earlier this month, suffered a crash and two punctures in Rutland at the weekend. (1122575)
LUCK certainly deserted James McLaughlin as he endured a miserable day at the Rutland-Melton Classic in the East Midlands.
The one-day 168km event was going well for the Sarnian until he suffered an unfortunate crash after 110km, landing him with bruising and a sprained wrist.
Despite that, he picked himself up off the floor to finish the race in 49th place, despite suffering two punctures in the final stages.
After a weekend which had promised much in the UCI European Tour event, McLaughlin believes it is important for him to move on and forget about this race.

just thought i would point out then previously having placed in the top 10 twice in this event and sitting in the lead group tobyn was feeling good and up for a good result, unfortunately in the last farm track just 2 k from the finish he suffered a puncture ruining any chance he had of a good placing, not sure why this wasn’t mentioned in the article……
