Petition is ‘last chance for pension justice’ for widows
Wednesday 20th April 2011, 1:01PM BST.
A REQUETE submitted to the States is the last chance for widows caught out by a bereavement benefit change to get justice, a campaigner has said.
Deputy Barry Paint (pictured) said 13 other deputies had signed the petition recommending the States to instruct Social Security to come up with a scheme to repay a group of women the benefit to which he claimed they were entitled.
‘I’m happy to bring the requete, it’s just a shame that Social Security wouldn’t listen and do it themselves,’ he said.
‘I just felt we had to take action.’
