Alderney ‘coping in the hard times’

ALDERNEY is coping well with the recession, according to the island’s top politician.
Policy and Finance Committee chairman John Beaman (pictured) said conge receipts from property sales were at their highest level since 2007 at yesterday’s States meeting.
Mr Beaman also said the number of people visiting the island was continuing to rise.
‘It’s been reported Alderney is in recession but there is no evidence to prove that one way or another,’ said Mr Beaman, during the debate on the island’s 2010 accounts.
