Alderney e-gambling firm charged in the US
Thursday 21st April 2011, 2:29PM BST.
Alderney’s Gambling Control Commission has launched an investigation after Full Tilt Poker was indicted on federal charges in America.
US authorities accused the owners of the Alderney-registered business, along with another two of the world’s biggest poker websites, of continuing to welcome American customers despite the 2006 introduction of a US law designed to stop online gaming.
The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was brought in to halt money transfers to such internet sites.
Federal prosecutors in New York are seeking at least $3bn. (£1.8bn.) in money laundering penalties. If convicted, the 11 men named in the indictment – from Full Tilt Poker, PokerStars and Absolute Poker – face possible prison time and huge fines.
Full Tilt Poker denied any wrongdoing and told the BBC it was ‘saddened’ by the charges.

Oh the irony of the USA – an online gambling ban from the country that brought us Las Vegas.
It is difficult to take them seriously sometimes.

They hate Offshore Centres, but have Delaware. Now they do this when they have Las Vegas, Atlantic City and all the Casinos run by the Native Americans….Strange bunch these Yankee Doodle Dandies. I suppose if Alderney had oil they would be talking about regime change as well! Go Figure!

The mighty USA has spoken and we should all obbey or else, get lost you hypocrites.
I know from experience of all their cold calling morally corrupt tactics to get the layman to part with their money and gamble it on the stock market with a “dead cert”.

Can’t help feeling this whole internet gambling malarky is one big pack of wobbly cards. It has grown massively into an online juggernaut that appears to enjoy minimal regulation.
More than a whiff of Chinese Triads, Ukrainian Mafia and Nevada Mobsters about it. Don’t mind laying a few dollars each way that it will all end in tears and tantrums.
Me? I’ll stick to my usual two bob each way on a mule in the Vale Round Table Donkey Derby.

What a load of rubbish, Hustler Casino in America has opened an online gambling site(on the very same day the FBI closed the so called illegal ones) which is legal only because its free and you win points that go towards prizes. Talk about a hypocritical loop hole.
America makes me laugh, its all about revenue lost not protecting humble Americans dont the FBI have anything better to do, like I dont know catch real criminals. They hate our little island, even though most have never visited.

Okay as a Guern living in the US, here’s my take on what is going on.
This has nothing at all to do with ethics or morality, regardless of what certain jurisdictions might claim on the warrants. This is purely about money. It’s as simple as that. With places such as Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Reno et al, the government is able to get it’s cut. With online gambling they don’t get a single red cent.
This has been going on over here for the last couple of years and is not being restricted to just e-gambling. There have been numerous cases int he past of couple of months of illegal domain seizures being performed by the DHS.
If you want to know what this is really all about do what you do with ANY government on this planet; Follow the money.
