Carey Olsen to hold presentation on draft foundations law
Thursday 21st April 2011, 2:29PM BST.
Following the release of the consultation of the draft Foundations (Guernsey) Law 2011, Carey Olsen will be holding a presentation to introduce the draft legislation and its key principles to assist members of the finance industry wishing to respond to the consultation.
The event, which is taking place at St James Concert Hall on Thursday 5 May 2011, will include guidance from a panel of experts led by Carey Olsen’s deputy managing partner Russell Clark.
Advocate Clark will be joined on a discussion panel by Jarrod Cowley-Grimmond from Commerce and Employment’s finance sector development team, and Keith Dixon, a senior associate from Carey Olsen’s Jersey office. Other senior members of Carey Olsen’s fiduciary team will also be on hand to answer questions during the event.
Advocate Clark said: “The objective of this event is to assist industry professionals with providing feedback on the consultation document and to provide some background about foundations and their use. The new Law will provide the fiduciary sector with increased flexibility; however it is quite distinct from the forms of foundation legislation offered by some of our competitor jurisdictions.
“The presentation will inform people about the nuances of the draft Law and explain the relevance of the various questions raised within the consultation document which will hopefully encourage people to share their very valuable feedback as part of the overall consultation process,” he said.
The event is taking place between 5.00pm and 7.00pm at St James Concert Hall on Thursday 5 May, 2011. Drinks and canapés will be served after the presentation. The seminar is free of charge and if you would like to book a place please contact Anna Coombs on 01481 732042 or email foundations@careyolsen.com.
The consultation period runs until 23 May and the consultation document can be downloaded from the Guernsey Registry website: http://www.guernseyregistry.com/ccm/navigation/foundations/
