Le Ber in quarters

MATT LE BER, who notched up that astonishing 12-1, 12-1 win over BBC TV commentator David Corkill on Tuesday, gave Guernsey supporters something to cheer in the WIBC world indoor bowls championships in south Wales yesterday.
Quite remarkably, although he suffered two straight sets defeats in the men’s singles, he managed to qualify for today’s quarter-finals, where he is lines up to play Scotland’s Stewart Anderson.
The sheer scale of his win over Corkill was enough to sway the balance after three players had tied in second place in the group league table at the Islwyn club in Pontllanfraith, which is in Gwent.
