English county debut for Tim

Saturday 23rd April 2011, 2:30PM BST.

Tim RavenscroftTIM RAVENSCROFT twice failed with the bat but was able to make a significant impact with the ball in his debut match for Hampshire.

The 20-year-old Sarnian (pictured) made his bow for the South Coast county in the three-day university friendly match against Leeds/Bradford at the Rose Bowl in Southampton, which ended with the county side making hard work of chasing victory on the final day.

After Leeds/Bradford had been bowled out for 195 on the first day, with Ravenscroft not needed with the ball, the island star and last year’s Elizabeth College 1st XI captain, had his chance to impress with the bat at number eight.

But coming in with his side only 36 runs ahead at 231 for six, he exited for just one, edging Adam Wilson through to keeper Dan Hodgson after facing 21 deliveries.
