Off-road star shows the way

IT REALLY was a good Friday for Mike Serafin as he proved quickest in the Guernsey Velo Club’s early morning road race around the Reservoir.
The 23-year-old looks near certain to travel to this summer’s Island Games as one of Guernsey’s mountain bikers, but it was on the road where he showed his ability on this occasion, after a thrilling finish.
He was trailing fellow Games hopeful Dan Arblaster on the final hill, but a blistering finish saw him nick it centimetres from the finishing line.
Afterwards, Serafin was a relieved but delighted man.
