Woman who fell in river presumed to have died

Sheila PaineA WOMAN who disappeared after falling into a Kazakhstan river last May has officially been presumed dead.

Sheila Paine, 67 (pictured), who worked at the Guille-Alles Library, was on the first full day of her holiday with husband Mike.

The couple were visiting their eldest son, Benjamin, a lawyer, who lives and works in Almaty, the central Asian country’s largest city.

Mr Paine said his wife was very committed to following her Christian faith.

‘I know that while we may not see her again this side of heaven, we have a complete assurance in knowing that she was ready, from a spiritual perspective, to leave this world at any time,’ he said.
