Super April sees hotel bookings race ahead

Karel HarrisGUERNSEY hotel bookings are up and the Herm campsite is opening weeks earlier than usual thanks partly to the unseasonably warm weather.

Hoteliers reported more reservations for the season ahead than at the same time last year.

The Commerce and Employment Department, which is responsible for Guernsey’s tourism strategy, said traffic on its website was 10% up on the same time last year.

Sarnia Hotels Group managing director Karel Harris (pictured) said it was difficult to tell how much of a contribution the good weather had made to the rise in bookings but thought it probably had had an impact.
