ANDREW COMBS again showed himself to be the best of a very good bunch yesterday as he made it three wins out of three individual events in the KPMG Guernsey Easter Runs.

The hugely talented 19-year-old from the Aldershot, Farnham and District club came out on top of an intriguing battle with Guernsey’s own Steve Dawes in the traditional Easter Monday Half Marathon based at the Albert Pier.

Dawes had led for much of the race, but always had Combs on his shoulder until the man from Hampshire made the decisive move with about a mile to go and won in 1hr 8min. 41sec.

‘It was my first time at that distance,’ said Combs, who also won the Good Friday 10km and the next day’s Keith Falla Memorial Cross-Country. He also clocked the fastest leg in the winning cross-country relay team on Sunday to complete an impressive clean sweep.
