VANDALS have struck at Le Grand Havre kiosk, to the dismay of its new tenants.

Linards Mellis and wife Agita Melle took over the kiosk opposite Vale Pond on La Route de L’Islet at the end of October.

But when Mr Mellis arrived there at 7am on Monday to prepare for his bank holiday customers, he discovered that only small pieces of the picnic benches were still there.

They had been broken up and the remains were found on the adjacent beach, where they had been used as kindling to start a fire.

This is appalling. I hope such menaces get caught and put away.
