Phone museum to be disconnected after final season

THE Telephone Museum will open up for its final season on 17 May.
An amendment asking for a detailed States report on its future was narrowly defeated at the end of July, meaning it will be closed and its exhibits put in storage or displayed at other museums.
Museums director Dr Jason Monaghan (pictured) admitted it was a bittersweet moment opening the museum for its last season in its current form and location.
‘It’s always exciting to open again, get our seasonal staff in and see what’s new,’ he said.

How sad to hear of the museums impending demise. As a frequent visitor to the island my family and I have enjoyed many visits to the place and will sadly miss it.

It is very sad that yet again, Guernsey short-sightedness, is allowing what is probably the BEST telecoms Museum in the British Isles to be closed down!
Once it is gone it will never be replaced.
All the sweat and toil put in by volunteers over many years.
