Online PS gamers told to check cards

Peter HarrisONLINE PlayStation gamers should monitor their card statements carefully after Sony warned that hackers have gained access to personal data, Guernsey’s Data Protection Commissioner has warned.

Sony revealed yesterday that 77 million users might have had their personal information hacked into, having locked gamers out of the network a week earlier for security.

They said that ‘illegal and unauthorised personnel’ had gained access to people’s names, addresses, emails, passwords, security questions and more. However, there was no evidence yet of credit card details theft.

Dr Peter Harris (pictured) said that if a person had registered with Sony there was a possibility that card details might have been captured, and urged gamers to contact their card companies.

    Way to go to launch a panic old boy. Don’t you think better advise would be for card holders to check there credit card statements and transactions carefully and if they feel concern contact there credit card company. Do you think is a good idea for so many (77 Million) users to start a panic?

    Imagine yourself even taking a dozen calls a day you’d have no time for those cups of teas.

    It’s alright to say you re doing your job and tell everyone to contact their credit card companies but you don’t even have the full facts yet. Go come and put your feet up.
