THERE was controversy as yesterday’s annual Guernsey Race Club meeting at L’Ancresse was abandoned after just two of the scheduled races.
Despite the wet, cold and blustery conditions, there was a healthy crowd in attendance, but they were not able to see the five-race card completed on the orders of the race vet.
He believed it was too dangerous for the horses to continue running, a decision which was not met with total agreement, including committee member Bob Le Bargy.
Even the pair of races that did take place were not without their fair share of drama, with only seven of the declared 12 horses running in total.

Why doesn’t it say that one poor horse had to be destroyed through the second race as the ground was slippery only making that decision once the accident had happened, maybe they should have thought before then for the horses sake as it wasn’t a little shower of rain!!!!
