Timing crucial to investment in renewables

THE key issue for investing in renewable energy technology is when to do it, an expert has said.
Guernsey Renewable Energy Forum founder member Dr Andrew Casebow (pictured) was speaking at a presentation to the Channel Islands Group of Professional Engineers.
Tidal power seemed the best option locally ahead of wind or wave turbines, he said, and the question was not whether to invest, but when to do it.
‘People will say why not install something now, but there’s nothing there in terms of proven technology,’ he said. ‘But if we ponder and delay, we could miss the boat.’

Tidal power is my preference.
This needs to be combined with educating people to reduce their power consumption demands.
At some point the cost of electricity is going to rocket, better to be in there today with a contributary alternative source then wait.
