We should have told mother before taking things off grave

THE department responsible for Le Foulon Cemetery admitted yesterday that it should have contacted the mother before removing items from a baby’s grave.

Lisa James, 21, said she was devastated when she found keepsakes had been removed from son Theo Pengelley’s grave last Wednesday, exactly 13 weeks after his premature death.

A Treasury and Resources Department spokesman said the number of items on the grave had been increasing since February and some had been damaged by wind or were in danger of being cut by strimmers.
