JAMES HAMON will be sitting his English GCSE exam today with a smile on his face.
The 15-year-old island player revealed at the start of the week that he wanted his run in this year’s Island Championship at L’Ancresse to last as long as possible because it would give him something to look forward to each evening after exams.
Ian Thomas took him the distance and beyond yesterday, but Hamon came through on the 20th hole to set up a mouthwatering third-round tie with Andy Eggo and he could not suppress his grin on the walk back to the clubhouse.
However, last night’s encounter will take some beating and a few paragraphs are not enough to do it justice.
