Housing minister slams HSSD for attempt to ‘torpedo’ homes report
Wednesday 18th May 2011, 2:29PM BST.
SUPPORTERS of a motion trying to delay debate on plans to redevelop Maison Maritaine and Longue Rue House have been accused of trying to ‘torpedo’ the proposals at the last minute.
Housing minister Dave Jones responded yesterday after it was confirmed that deputy Health and Social Services minister Andrew Le Lievre had submitted a sursis seeking a delay because of issues about funding.
The issue has left the lead department, Housing, split from the majority of HSSD, which also signed off the plans.
Deputy Jones (pictured) said that, while he was not surprised by the move, he was extremely disappointed by Deputy Le Lievre’s action against ‘our joint proposals’. ‘Having signed off the report less than 10 weeks ago, the HSSD board has a lot of explaining to do as to why it now wants to torpedo the proposals at the last minute.’

Yet another time wasting sursis after the act – and more Deputy infighting. Yikes….

Yikes it most certainly is Ben – good old Dave Jones coming out with one of his well known rejoinders, up in arms, shock horror, but “not surprised”….

Not surprised, of course not..

please listen to dep le lievre who has spent most of his working life at the coal face of government provision, especially social welfare, whereas dep jones drove diggers and worried at EU sheep. all agree the extra care housing building is a good thing and can be budgeted for. but who pays for those who live in it? the press is urging not to delay. but when ssd come to the states to increase social insurance payments to boost the long term care fund to keep the extra care residents resident, what will mr editor argue then?
