WITH an eye on the Island Games six weeks away, there was no more pleasing sight from a senior perspective at the Hampshire Championships in Portsmouth than Tom Druce in full flight and setting a new personal best in the 200m.
Druce, who plans to double up with the 200 and 400 in the Isle of Wight, clocked 21.67sec. for the silver medal behind Cardiff’s Gareth Price, which was fractionally outside his hours old personal best, 21.61, achieved in winning his heat.
The times were the second and third fastest times by a Guernseyman anywhere, Dale Garland having run a 21.3 wind-assisted time two years ago.
Garland also holds the official island record with a hand-timed 21.8.
