Independent body set to deal with police complaints

police genericAN INDEPENDENT Police Complaints Commission will start work from July, if the States agrees at its June meeting.

A Home Department spokesman said it was an important move.

‘If the public is to have trust and confidence in the police, the complaints system must be accessible, transparent and subject to independent scrutiny,’ he said.

‘Furthermore, any police officer who is subject to a serious complaint needs to be dealt with by a process that is fair and unbiased.’

    When the new Commission rules are being set down on paper please use the Guernsey States Members Code of Conduct panel rules as a template ……

    and do the exact OPPOSITE in every paragraph

    It will still be a case of
    “Oh they’re brother officers.”

    And then again, have they so much money that they can have such a committee?

    I think it’s flagrant waste of time and money-

    Do you honestly think any committee will carry out a mission such as is proposed?
