Bike training wait for 90

GMTS at La mare de Carteret High SchoolTHERE are around 90 people still waiting to undertake compulsory motorcycle training.

It was announced on Friday that Specsavers had offered the Environment Department use of its car park for six weeks to allow the training to be carried out by the Guernsey Motorcycle Training Scheme.

‘The site will be used in conjunction with La Mare de Carteret and it is expected that up to 10 candidates will be processed each weekend over the coming six weeks,’ said an Environment spokesman.

‘The department has considered 30 possible sites for compulsory basic training to take place and is continuing to investigate all available options for both short-term and long-term solutions to the problem.

    I cant help but notice,

    that 6 weeks at 10 people a week, is 60 people.

    Providing they ALL pass, and nobody needs to retake, this still wont even clear the backlog.

    I remember doing this CBT quite a few years ago at beaucamp, it is very useful training and teaches lots of important skills for first time riders.

    Surely at 30 sites, there must be somewhere appropriate

    Unless of course the Environment spokesman told the reporter that the Specsavers site will process ten candidates while La Mare will continue with their normal five at the same time
