Father knocked unconscious as party is gatecrashed
Monday 23rd May 2011, 2:29PM BST.
POLICE arrested three young men after a 36-year-old man was found unconscious at a house party in the Forest on Saturday night.
Ten officers and an ambulance crew attended the address at La Villiaze at around 9.50pm, near the airport viewing area.
Inspector Tom Makins said a large party was in progress and a large number of youngsters were in the road and surrounding areas.
‘It is believed the house party had been properly organised by the householders, but the event was then circulated on Facebook, resulting in an additional 70 to 100 youths attending.

Why can people not grasp the concept of privacy options on facebook, make an event private and nobody but the people you invite can see it.
And if the people you are inviting are passing the details on to other people then are they really the kind of people you want to invite to a party.
Secondly, this seems like a responsible party, the paper states 14 year olds, and neighbours notified, and parents home. How did it get into such a state! Surely the Dad just stood at the door and said ‘No your not coming in’. i find it hard to belive that a 36 year old man was knocked unconcious by a 14 year old. Unless older people showed up.
Seems all very sad.

It’s the party holder’s fault for not protecting his/her event on FaceBook.

to Glanstar:
your comment…… i find it hard to belive that a 36 year old man was knocked unconcious by a 14 year old. Unless older people showed up
For your information there was apr 70 – 100 people, and 36 old man was attacked by 12 young men!!!
If the party was crashed, it was unlikely to be 14 year olds who crashed it, the article also says “Three young men”, so i would imagine, maybe around the age of 16-17, already drunk, jumped him when he said, “No you’re not coming in”.
And you never know, it might have been someone who wasn’t invited got wind of it, and then posted it on facebook. People have been crashing parties longer than facebook has been around.
The whole family are at fault for posting a party on a social net working site and expecting it to be kept private.
Did this man ask the kids to politely leave….?
We have not read anything about this so called victims behavior toward the youngsters?
If he was kicked unconscious he soon regained consciousness…..or was he play acting!
Also, why has he allowed the consumption of alcohol by underaged kids on his property…

As a general comment it is important that both parents and young people are educated about the perils and pitfalls of social networking sites. Although I’d never consider Facebook entirely secure, there are measures people can take to at least provide some degree of protection.
I don’t think that would’ve make a great deal of difference in this case though. Gatecrashing parties has been around long before Facebook was invented and it doesn’t take long for news to spread that a party’s going on.

The facebook event was private, everyone at the party was invited. Also about 3 fifteen year olds attacked him. Everybody was in the garden and nothing got ruined. The parents over exagurated so much.

Mr G, that comment makes a huge leap in unwarranted assumptions. Nowhere does the article suggest that the party holder advertised the event on Facebook. The wording is “the event was circulated”. That could have been by anyone — one of the partygoers, or someone who just happened to hear about it.
yes maybe they should have used privacy settings on the facebook event page if that is how so many people found out? but you can’t say ahh tough you deserve to be knocked out because of it. I hope those who did it get a taste of their own medicine

Three fifteen year olds attacked him and you seem to think that is no big deal?.
Well done for the most pathetic post yet.
Fuuny thing is when parents and teachers were allowed to dish out a little punishment we were told it was wrong because it teaches violence and yet this kind of thing seems to be getting worse?.
When i was a nipper i would never have thought of attacking the anyone in that manner due to respect and knowing i would have got a bloody good thump if i had, the same goes for all my mates and none of us were angels.
So many of these kids/cowards hide behind the fact that they can get away with it and the law is there to protect THEM.
Give the worthless little morons a damn good smack in the chops then see how tough they are.

the man had it coming allowing that many kids drink underage in his house, horrific thing to happen but what was he thinking in the first place?
The fight started when the dad tried to kick one of the guests out. The guest refused to leave so the dad pushed him and he fell over. After that one of his friends tackled the dad to the floor. A crowd of people then gathered round and beat him unconscious.

If you are going to accuse the victim of over exaggerating, then at least get your own story straight first.
First comment “3 fifteen year olds attacked him”
Second comment “A crowd of people then gathered round and beat him unconscious”
You also seem to be intimating that this behaivour is correct. The person who he alledgedly pushed, what was he doing to deserve being asked to leave??
“Nothing” I bet?? he was just being asked to leave for no reason……. riiiiiiight!
Do you think the man had no right to ask someone to leave his own house??
If not then thats the same rules as beating someone unconscious is “fine”.
Pathetic behaivour from little brats who have most likely never had any discipline, and will probably grow up to become petrol pump attendants at best!

I don’t know if the paarrtaayy ‘animal’ (and I use that word advisedly) is serious or if it’s a clever and extreme parody of ‘chavvy yoof’ culture.
If it is the former we are in deep trouble as an island society and the English language is in even deeper trouble.

I cant believe what Guernsey is coming to and reading this article has made me immensly angry!
When i was the girls age, i had a party for my 16th although facebook wasnt around back then, but i had exactly the same thing, my house got trashed up, i only invited 5 friends, 50 odd teenagers came by and trashed my house, stole my mums jewlrey and one of them had a knife on them..it just goes to show that you cant be too sure who you can trust anymore.
Now i only have a handfull of friends who i have known for years and trust if i invite them round.
If i dont know them that well, i will meet them in a public place.
As for the lowlife scum assaulting the father? well…that is just the lowest of the low and it makes me mad that a young girl cant even enjoy her own birthday party because a group of chavs are bored and have nothing to do in their spare time. I really feel for the family and i hope in time they will feel more secure in their own home.
As for facebook..i always make sure my own events are private but again..you got to know who you can trust and unfortunately, some people can be really evil.

Lesson learnt then – no parties for immature 13/14/15 year olds – I presume that Paaaaaarty’s response is a hoax – otherwise what a pathetic person.
