FOCUS gained some revenge on league champions Panthers by securing the knockout cup in an exciting and fiery basketball victory.

After seeing their great rivals pip them to the title two days earlier, Focus would have been looking to make a statement and they did that early on, racing into a 10-3 lead.

In a fast-paced encounter in which both teams spurned opportunities thanks to strong defence, Panthers turned it around to lead 16-15, but another surge saw them trail 21-16 at the conclusion of the first quarter.

That five-point margin would be as close as the champions were to get, though, with a second quarter surge putting Focus 38-25 to the good and apparently cruising.
