Joshua, 14, jet-skis across Channel twice
Monday 23rd May 2011, 11:30AM BST.
FEARLESS teenager Joshua Ellis completed a marathon jet ski from Poole to Alderney and back at the weekend.
The 14-year-old from Yate, near Bristol, finished the 120-mile charity challenge in less than nine hours.
He is the youngest person ever to jet ski from the mainland to Alderney.
Joshua (pictured), who attends Brimsham Green School, in Yate, was raising funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Coeliac UK. He has raised more than £6,000 so far, with more donations expected.

Good for him but his parents need a visit from social services.

Andy
The short version of the story suggests that the lad did it alone. The TV clip showed that he was accompanied there and back by his parents in a guard boat

Andy – I’m sorry sir but that’s utter nonsense.
Here is a young man who is prepared to test himself and achieve something positive. This achievement may well spur him on to greater things in the future – now he’s got a sense of what he is capable of.
There’s far too many young people around these days who have their potential stunted by wet rags who aren’t prepared to let them off the leash a bit.
His parents were absolutely right to support him – and wise to tail him on his endeavour. I’m a parent and if I were them I hope I’d have done the same.
Good on them all.

Andy
I agree with you but in the sense they could learn a few things from his parents?.

In fairness to Andy who is getting a bit of a kicking, the short story above could appear to be that the 14 year old did this hazardous trip alone, which of course is not the case

I find it distressing when a young person does something that is unique.. then all the fuddy duddies come along and criticise.
In actual fact I believe it is jealousy, perhaps they never had such a chance.
My bit to this story says
