Commuting tourism chief calls it a day
Tuesday 24th May 2011, 11:30AM BST.
TOURISM chief Chris Elliott has resigned.
The director of marketing and tourism at Commerce and Employment has been commuting from the UK since Easter and has decided to move on after five years in the post.
Concerns were raised within the industry when it was announced at the end of January that Mr Elliott (pictured) would be moving to the New Forest, and commuting.
A hotelier said yesterday that he was not surprised by the resignation, saying, ‘you could see it coming a mile off.’
C&E minister Carla McNulty Bauer said: ‘Chris’s decision is entirely for personal reasons and I am very sorry to see him go. The board is most grateful for Chris’s contribution and achievements’

Voice For Victims
Voice for Victims is a campaign aimed at promoting the rights of those affected by child sexual abuse.
no worries, I understand that despite an extensive recruitment campaign, conducted on an undisclosed website at 3am yesterday, and lasting for several minutes, they couldn’t find anyone suitable locally, so they’re advertising the post in Papua New Guinea and on Mars.
Main quals include ability to spell ‘Guernsey’, and candidates who can actually locate us on a map will be given special preference.

Maybe the States can save money by not replacing him. They announced they will be working more closely with Jersey’s marketing team back in January so maybe thay can start here. Jersey’s tourism department seems much more effective to me, I can’t remember anything this chap has done in the last 5 years at our expense.

Well, well; no surprises there. And yet another example of Minister McNB pushing her own way forward and falling flat on her face.
What’s the betting another UK guy will be appointed in his place?

Did we pay any of his relocation costs?

WHEW! Seems we’ve found our replacement! his names nimmmmnim,
and he’s an extra terrestrial who really fancies moving here.
McNutty says relocation costs like having the space ship built will be an expense, but worth it, as he’s got lots of experience in…something or other…
he also wants to bring his family (all 3,500 of them) and described the relocation as an ‘invasion’, but McNutty’s says she’s reassured that he has our best interests at heart (both of them)..
well done!

I think Islander should be given the job!

I can’t ever imagine Islander wanting to work for the States

@ Scarlett
McNutty will undoubtedly bring in a foreigner, extra terrestial or otherwise, since in my opinion, no doubt joined by others, she does not appear to be on our planet most of the time.
