INCESSANT pneumatic drilling at 1am forced a couple to flee from their home.

And yesterday the Long Port Group apologised for the disruption that took place in St Julian’s Avenue.

Tom Dawson, 26, and Katie Hill, 25, were woken in their property next to Avenue Flowers by a loud drilling noise at 1am.

Long Port Group senior development manager Mark Ogier apologised for the disruption.

He said the work had been done at night to allow Avenue Flowers and the Ribshack to operate during the day.

Phone the PEH and ask to be connected to the duty Environmental Health Officer. There is one 24/7.

Who goes to the Ribshack during the day?

    Hang on a mo….

If memory serves the Ribshack opens early evening and is still open well past 1am so that particular explanation doesn’t make much sense!

No one in their right mind would go to the Ribshack during the day!

Longport group should give the couple compensation. Paying for a night + dinner in a nice hotel to make up for it. There should also be a formal warning from the police (if of course the couple raised a police complaint). 1am drilling is excessive and I’m pretty sure it’s breaking some sort of law! distrubance of the peace or something.

But they’ve never complained about drunken louts outside Ribshack at 3am?? At least the drillers were making the pavement look nice, unlike the Ribshack Revellers who make it look like a fly-tipping zone, which then attracts the seagulls who wake ME at 5:30am.

I guess I’m just jealous because I didn’t grab the front page headline today by being awoken by the noise of seagulls hacking into polystyrene boxes littering St Julians :(

They had to flee…were they under attack?
Why didn’t they just go out there and ask the workers to stop making the noise?

Interesting to see EX deputy Dave Barrett commenting, trust this doesn’t signify that he is testing the populace for a re run in 012.

Guernseasider – there’s quite a big difference between the noise of some drunks outside and the whole place vibrating when a pneumatic drill is being used!

Regardless, they should have at the very least contacted residents in the immediate area before even contemplating using such tools at 1am.

You’re correct there, there IS a big difference. I hear the effing & jeffing, screaming and arguing every night …. but I didn’t hear the drill!!

It seemed to take forever but they’ve done a nice job of it in the end. The coffee van can now park up on either side of the Avenue
