FENCERS from the Sarnia Sword Club have returned from an invitation tournament at Periers in France with medals around their necks.
The Guernsey competitors consisted of fencers of all ages, from Under-20 to veterans.
While the Periers competition has always been a very enjoyable social event, it also threatened to provide the Guernsey visitors with a stern test of fencing ability as this event is often patronised by strong French fencers.
The weapon competitions consisted of two rounds of pools, for seeding purposes, followed by direct elimination in bouts to 15 hits.
