£1,500 less for same job for Blue Islands’ baggage handlers

Friday 27th May 2011, 1:00PM BST.

blue islandsBLUE Islands check-in staff and baggage handlers will have to take a wage cut of nearly £1,500 to keep their jobs, it has been revealed.

The news came as a result of the airline’s one-to-one discussions with 25 of its ground staff after deciding to outsource that part of its operation.

Blue Islands managing director Rob Veron has said the move would be beneficial for everyone, but that was rejected by one employee.

He asked to remain anonymous, believing that speaking out would threaten his employment opportunities with new operator Airbase Flight Support.
