Ponte blazes path into the semis

AIMEE PONTE is through to the semi-finals of the Hampshire County Championships at Alresford Golf Club.
Schoolgirl Ponte (pictured), 15 on Wednesday, was second best of the 16 qualifiers for the matchplay stages after rounds of 77 and 75 gross.
She then beat Sarah Deacon of Basingstoke 4 and 2 and Katie Mundy, conqueror of Jersey’s Jenny Deeley, 1 up, to reach today’s semi-finals where she plays Alresford’s Becky Scott.
Deeley, the new Jersey champion, finished 11 shots behind Ponte in qualifying.
