Ponte’s pipped
Saturday 28th May 2011, 2:29PM BST.
AIMEE PONTE pushed home favourite Becky Scott virtually all the way before losing 2 and 1 in the semi-finals of the Hampshire Women’s Championships.
The youngster (pictured), just 15 this past week, was two up early on and played good golf at Alresford.
However, she was sunk by Scott’s barrage of birdies over the closing holes.
Domestically, Michael Ayre won the Royal Guernsey’s Cromlech Cup Stableford.
His 37 points haul gave him victory by a point from scratch winner Matt de la Mare (72 gross), Mike Goddard and Shaun Mcdade. James Hamon won the junior prize on 35 points.
