A JUBILANT Tim Torode joined an elite list of Guernsey drivers to break the 30 second barrier on Le Val des Terres at the end of one of the most extraordinary day’s racing.

Shattering his own previous class record of 30.01sec., Torode realised his dream to reach the summit in 29.87 but, remarkably, it was still not enough to earn him the outright fastest time of the day.

Instead, he had to share that honour with Nick Saunders, his identical time being set at the beginning of the day, before Torode matched it in the dying stages.

After his effort, which bodes well for the National meeting in July, Torode spoke of his delight at finally ‘going sub-30’.
