IT SEEMS Guernsey boxing may well have another gem coming through its ranks.

Friday evening’s Charity Gala boxing show at St Pierre Park saw some high-quality action, none more so than 14-year-old Jack Gilvear, who deservedly took home the fight of the night award after his points victory over Adam Ridge.

Gilvear has been showing great potential for some time now and, crucially, is improving as a boxer fight-on-fight.

This time, he showed hand speed and impressive defence to negate the tricky Northwest Counties lad Ridge, much of his work being done up close with eye-catching combinations.
