LT-GOVERNOR Air Marshal Peter Walker warmly congratulated those receiving the Queen’s Birthday Honours during his first reception at Government House.

As the rain eased off just in time for the loyal toast, Air Marshal Walker joked that it was not in his job spec to worry about the weather.

‘So I’ve decided it’s the Bailiff’s responsibility,’ he said, to laughter from the crowd.

He proceeded to detail the achievements of each of the five people across the Bailiwick who had been honoured as well as the two voluntary organisations – the Alderney Library and the Dyslexia Day Centre – who were each given the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Award for Voluntary Service in the Community.
