FOUR ducks from the top five left the Elizabeth College batting in tatters in the first of this summer’s two inter-collegiate matches against their old rivals.
Put in at Victoria College, the visitors were shot out for just 78 in 22.2 overs and proceeded to lose by seven wickets.
Only Josh Kirk, with 33 from 63 balls faced, could resist the Victoria pacemen Corne Bodenstein and Alex Noel, who claimed seven wickets between them.
Kirk hit four boundaries in his vain attempt to rescue the innings, while Tom Still, batting at nine, also hit four fours in a quick 21 which helped push the total beyond the half-century mark.
Bodenstein then hit a run-a-ball 23 as Victoria raced to their target in just 12.4 overs and the loss of three wickets.
Matt Renouf eventually ended Bodenstein’s fun.
