Heavy fog at airport causes major disruption for travellers

HUNDREDS of islanders and visitors had their travel plans disrupted yesterday due to heavy fog at the airport.

Dozens of flights were cancelled and delayed leaving travellers stranded for hours.

Michael and Irene Gosling, who live in the UK, were due to fly to Gatwick at 2.30pm but their flight was delayed.

‘It’s not clear when we will be leaving now but there has been an indication that it will be at 7pm,’ said Mr Gosling.

‘It’s a nuisance, but so far it is manageable’

    I was going to comment about what a non-story this is, but then I had a thought.

    When I hear in the news about tsunamis, earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes and volcanoes in other parts of the world it makes me rather grateful that on our little island the occasional bout of fog is considered newsworthy!
