Lt-Governor’s love of aviation on show

THE Lt-Governor said he was impressed with safety standards at Guernsey Airport after a tour yesterday.
Air Marshal Peter Walker was shown around the terminal and air traffic control before watching an exercise by the airport firefighters, who practised a drill dealing with a burning plane.
Air Marshal Walker served in the Royal Air Force for 32 years and said he enjoyed having the chance to look round the airfield.
‘It is 20 years since I commanded an airfield and the basics have not changed.
‘Yes, things are more digital but the pressures are largely the same and safety is always paramount.’
