SLICING the hedge at the Vale War Memorial in half has ruined the privacy of the neighbouring garden, its owner has said.
Route des Coutures resident Gay Gilman, 71, said she was shocked when friends interrupted her holiday in the UK yesterday to tell her that the hedge, which had once obscured her garden from the main road, was being cut down.
‘They haven’t notified me at all – perhaps we could have come to a compromise,’ she said.
‘But they’ve cut it down to just 6ft. My garden is now fully open to everyone.’
The cemetery committee was not immediately available to comment.

A garden surrounded by a six foot hedge can hardly be described as open.

Surely the crux of the matter is who owns this piece of verdant growth. At first hand it would appear not to be Mrs Gilman, or Mr Le Houqet. I think they should cosider themselves fortunate that there was no honey fungus, that way they would have been able to see everything that is going on.

That’s not the point, if it was her hedge why should somebody chop it down?

Mr G
It wasn’t her hedge
Most of the subject headings on this forum are pretty miserable at the moment

Perhaps the Gentleman should- in a way be glad his name isn’t on that memorial to those valiant men who gave theirs, so he could have the right to moan.
A worthless gesture on his part.

Save our Hedge!
Sounds like another job for Bernie Coutu!!

Most people would moan that their neighbour’s hedge is over six foot.
There’s no pleasing some people

Agreed, the headings have been very uninspiring for some time now, old hat and duplication.
No ground will gained by the complainants either on this topic, so suggest this thread is buried accordingly.
