Royal Mail hikes will cost us an extra £1m. a year

ISLANDERS will have to absorb £1m. in higher postal charges after a huge price hike by Royal Mail.
Tariffs for UK and business mail will increase from 1 August.
The regulator needs to approve the rises and yesterday Office of Utility Regulation director general John Curran said it was likely to do so.
‘When Guernsey Post’s price control was set in January we were aware further changes were likely.
‘However, while these proposed price increases are significant and unwelcome, we are of the view that it is right that they are passed on to customers.’

Give the Post Office back their near monopoly,and you will solve this problem,and also having to wait weeks for private firms to get parcels here and often having to collect them yourself at inconvenient places and times.
