Tribunal awards worker aged 65 six months’ pay
Wednesday 15th June 2011, 2:29PM BST.
A FORMER employee of a plant and hire company has been awarded £12,000 after an employment tribunal ruled that he was unfairly dismissed.
In reacting to the result yesterday, claimant Mike Cluer said he was pleasantly surprised as he had not expected to receive the maximum award.
He said he had tried to settle beforehand by asking for one month’s salary, but that had not been successful.
Mr Cluer (pictured), who worked for CAMS for eight years, had said he was pushed out of his job because he had turned 65.

Great result for all older workers. Well done to Mr Cluer for standing up for his rights.
