JON GREENFIELD began the summer triathlon season with a performance that could see him take the series title for a third consecutive year.
The short but challenging Pleinmont course was the first race of the De Putron Triathlon Summer Series, taking in a 500m swim, an eight-mile cycle and a two-mile run.
In all, 47 competitors set off from the starting line in windy and overcast conditions – testament to the growing popularity of the sport in the island.
The race began with a swim across Portelet Bay in choppy waters before the bike leg took competitors up the hill from the Imperial Hotel, past the Mallard Cinema, down the hill to L’Eree and back along the coast to Pleinmont.
